Terms of Service
Upkeep ("the Service") is an invite-only maintenance tracking application operated by John Howard ("we", "us"). These Terms govern your use of the Service. By creating an account or accepting an invitation, you agree to these Terms.
1. Eligibility and accounts
The Service is invite-only. You may use it only if you have been invited by an existing account administrator. You must be at least 13 years old. You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for all activity under your account.
2. What the Service does
Upkeep lets a property owner (the administrator) and their designated helpers (family members, employees, contractors) coordinate recurring maintenance on equipment, vehicles, livestock, and property. Administrators can create tasks, organize them into trackers, assign them to helpers, and record completions.
3. Notifications
The Service delivers task and tracker notifications via in-app Web Push notifications, which require the Service to be installed as a Progressive Web App on your device and notification permission to be granted by you. The Service does not send SMS or marketing messages of any kind. Phone numbers stored in user profiles are contact information only.
You can revoke notification permission at any time in your browser or device settings without affecting your account.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Violate any law or the rights of another person.
- Send content that is harassing, defamatory, or unlawful.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to accounts or data that are not yours.
- Disrupt or interfere with the Service.
5. Your content
You retain ownership of the information you put into the Service (task names, notes, photos, etc.). You grant us a limited license to store and display that information solely to operate the Service for you and the people you share it with.
6. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time by asking your administrator to remove your account. We may suspend or remove accounts that violate these Terms.
7. No warranty
The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. Maintenance reminders are a convenience and are not a substitute for following manufacturer instructions or professional inspection.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent allowed by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Total aggregate liability is limited to the amount you have paid us (if any) in the prior 12 months.
9. Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the current version.
